# Christianity gains imperial toleration (313)

The Edict of Milan under Constantine and Licinius legalized Christian worship across the empire. Within the broader Roman Britain period, conquest, provincial administration, urbanization, frontier warfare and the gradual weakening of imperial rule reshaped the island.
