# Battle of Plassey (1757)

East India Company forces under Robert Clive defeated the Nawab of Bengal and his French-backed allies. Within the broader Georgian Britain period, parliamentary government, industrialization, imperial expansion, war with France and political reform turned Britain into a global commercial and military power.
