# Battle of Kinsale (1601)

English forces defeated Irish rebels and Spanish allies in southern Ireland. Within the broader Tudor Britain period, dynastic consolidation, Reformation, closer incorporation of Wales and Ireland, and rivalry with Catholic Europe transformed the state.
